On Monday, November 4th, The Osceola Fire Department took delivery of a state of the art 2019 Pierce pumper truck dubbed simply as #11.
This new piece of equipment with a price tag of roughly $554,000.00 arrives at a time when budget concerns are foremost on everyone's mind. Chief Phillip Fleming noted that proceeds from the Annual OFD Golf Tournament, a service contract with Plum Point and various grant awards have cut the cost by nearly half with additional funding opportunities being researched. This major equipment purchase will have little to no impact on municipal finances.
Engine #11 will replace an aging 1966 model pumper that has become cost-prohibitive to maintain. Some of the more recent repairs to the older model resulted in parts being specially manufactured.
Key features include:
- 1500 gallon water capacity (compared to 350 gallons)
- 65 Gallon fuel tank
- 450 HP Cummins L9 Diesel Engine
- 30 gallon "Class A" foam system
- Cab seating for six firefighters
- Interior and exterior LED lighting
